Holiday budget calculator
Holiday Budget Calculator: Total Trip Cost per Person
Calculate transport, accommodation and daily spending for your whole trip. Keep a reserve and refundable deposits separate, then compare the total with your budget.
How the calculation works
Enter the number of people, nights and days you will actually budget for. Return travel is per person; accommodation is the price per night for all rooms together. Baggage, local transport, activities and taxes are totals for the whole party. Food is per person per day.
The planned cost is travel × people + baggage + accommodation × nights + local transport + food × people × days + activities + required charges. The reserve is calculated as a percentage of that subtotal. A refundable deposit or card hold is shown separately and does not increase the trip-spending total.
Use the example as a calculation check
The example uses two travellers, three nights and four days. Return travel of 120 per person, 40 baggage, a room total of 90 per night, 50 local transport, food of 25 per person per day, 60 activities and 20 taxes give 880 planned costs. A 10% reserve gives 968 in total, or 484 per person. A separate 150 deposit raises the displayed total-plus-deposit figure to 1,118. With a budget of 1,000, the remaining amount is 32.
These are invented amounts, not available travel offers. Choose one currency and enter every amount in that currency. The calculator does not retrieve prices or perform exchange-rate conversions.
Compare two workable trips
Record the total for your first option, change only the amounts that differ and compare again. Avoid double counting: if baggage or breakfast is already included, do not add it a second time. Check that the daily allowance covers the days you actually spend away and that local taxes are included once.
